Our History
Bill Jones has been providing tax and accounting services in Carroll County for over thirty-five years. During that time, Bill has enjoyed the view of Main Street and Liberty Street in Westminster under firm names of William G Jones, CPA; Davis & Jones, PC; Sturgill & Associates LLP; and now Jones, Lakin & Company, CPAs, PC.
Bill opened his first office at 280 E Main in 1985, shortly after he and JoAnn moved to Carroll County. Bill worked hard to build his practice as he and JoAnn settled in to the community and began to raise their family. Then in 1991, Bill partnered with Gary Davis and opened Davis & Jones at 187 E Main. Bill and Gary worked together for about seventeen years, during which time they grew the practice, employed many wonderful people, and got to know the members of the community. In 2008, Bill made the decision to go out on his own again and found an upstairs office at 421 E Main, his farthest venture down Main Street, but quickly outgrew the space. The team then moved to the upstairs floor at 73 E Main with 26 steps at the back door, which Bill affectionately called “the stress test.”

In 2018, team member Kimberly A Lakin purchased the business from Bill and the firm of Jones, Lakin & Company, CPAs, PC was born. We continued at 73 E Main Street for a year, but moved in 2019 to our current space at 15 S Cranberry Rd, Suite C which supports greater room, lots of parking, and zero stairs!
Our current full-time team members include Bill Jones, Kimberly Lakin, and Emily Brown. Kimberly has been working with Bill since 2015 and Emily has been working with Bill since 2005.
